In thinking about creating a soundscape in this project, I immediately think "why would I ever need to do this", but upon looking further into the syllabus work and hearing about the next project it all became extremely relevant. Creating an environment out of absolutely nothing, dreaming space into existence using sound is something so unfathomable that I feel like I might struggle a bit with this project. Currently I have two running ideas for this second project and a few offshoots that I might feel inclined to explore. Currently M=my top two choices are recreating a musty and damp abandoned factory building via digital soundscape, or recreating the sounds you would hear everyday at the skatepark. My first option, the abandoned factory, allows me the most freedom with the sounds I could incorporate (mystery of the unknown), while my second option (skatepark) is something a little more concrete and realistic to life (may be easier to do). Looking forward to the animation project that follows this, incorporating sound into that animation is integral - my plan for that is to incorporate the mix media style utilized in my first project to create a skate animation or one of my characters, meaning a skatepark soundscape might be one that I should explore to benefit my future efforts, but I have yet to make that decision.
